Digital circuits are electronic circuits which have two states that is on state or logic 1(high) state and off state or logic 0(low) state. The digital systems process only digital input signals. hence the analog data and analog signal are first converted into digital signals and then processed further.
Digital systems are used in many applications such as:
(1) Computer.
(2) Telephony.
(3) military applications.
(5) communication systems
(6) medical fields etc.
Signals
- A physical quantity, which contains some information is known as signals.
- It can be function of one or more independent variables.
- The signals can be classified into two types:
- The continous sifnals having infinite values in defined range are called analog signals.
- It is a signal whose amplitude varies continously over a specified range of time.
- Examples: Temperature, Sound, pressure, voltage etc.
- It is a signal whose amplitude varies discretely over a specified range of time.
- It can take finite values within the specified range.
- It is obtained from computer by the process of conversion.
